Gerbrand Grobler was a childhood hero of mine. He was, at times, erratic, but when he was on form he was sublime and was one of the best counter attacking fullbacks in South Africa. He could have played for South Africa and was unlucky to never get a chance.
Unfortunately, Gerbrand tragically died in a car accident in late 1994, while he was in his prime and playing for Transvaal.
