Watching footage of Wahl Bartmann again made me realize how tough he was. This guy didn’t shrug away from any physicality, was very quick around the field and was massive on defense. He was a very good ball carrier too and explosive on the run when given a little space.
Wahl famously joined Natal from Transvaal in 1990 and immediately made an impact by helping the Banana Boys to win the Currie Cup in their centenary year. He would go on to captain Natal to Currie Cup glory two years later against Transvaal at Ellispark.
Wahl became a Springbok in 1986 by replacing Burger Geldenhuys in the Springbok team and he would finish his career with the Springboks and with Natal in 1994 before retiring from rugby to become a very successful business man.
Enjoy and thanks for watching!
