Etienne Botha – The Unlucky Magician

Etienne Botha was one of those unlucky players to have never got a chance to represent the Springboks at the top level. He was a strong, stocky centre with deceptive pace and a sidestep few could rival.

He started his career at the Falcons, but quickly made a name for himself when he joined the Blue Bulls in 2002. He scored four tries in two consecutive Currie Cup finals in 2003 and 2004 and was the competition’s top try scorer in 2004.

Sadly, Etienne passed away in a tragic car accident in 2005 in the prime of career.

Here are some of his greatest tries, enjoy, and thanks for watching!
