To appreciate Divan Serfontein, one has to watch the videos of the best tries scored in South African rugby during his era. Then the terrific role he played, his quickness in the clearing of the scrum, the long passes, his nippiness and the fact that he was able to draw the whole defense before sending his line away, become abundantly clear.
He also had the distinction of captaining the Springboks in 1984 and he was one of the greatest Western Province players ever, playing a huge part in the five golden years of Western Province rugby in the early 1980’s.
