Like Danie Gerber, Jonah Lomu, Brian O’ Driscoll and Jonny Wilkinson, David Campese is a once in a lifetime player. Some fans will say his form over the years has been erratic, but I don’t agree. He was a genius who pushed the boundaries and always tried something new on attack. Sometimes it worked (the goose step) and sometimes it didn’t work (that fatal pass against the Lions in ’89), but the fact remains he was one of a kind.
I rate him together with Danie Gerber as the two greatest attacking players ever.
Campo could cut up defenses like few before or after him.
