Vicki du Preez – Dink aan my
South African artist, born Vicki Groenewald on 2 August 1946 in Westdene, Johannesburg. She was educated at Jubileum Primary School in Mayfair West and at D.F. Malan High School in Crosby. Her father had a jazz band in the 1940s and 1950s, which motivated her to start singing at the age of 3. At school she regularly appeared in concerts and operettas. In 1976 she was offered a recording contract, and several 7” singles followed, including “Totsiens Aufwiedersehen” which reached #12 on the South African Top 20 in 1977, charting for 7 weeks.
She also appeared in various television shows, including Ateljee 4, Treffers, Sing Country, Spies en Plessié and Skemertyd, and regularly performed with her band Vision.
This song is off the SABC Transcription Record “Nou Soek My Hart Die Sonskyn”, with Theo Erasmus and His Orchestra, released in 1975.
